Jacob has a lot of ideas, most of which are not very good. Every once in a while, though, he stumbles on an idea that’s too good to not give it a shot.
He maintains a blog at jacobrothstein.com. Jacob is an avid go player, and is currently 9 kyu. Jacob is the architect and founding engineer of Stormweight. Previously, he was an early engineer at Lumosity. He can usually be found drinking Tieguanyin and staring at a screen with a furrow in his brow. Jacob holds a BA from Reed College in Behavioral Psychology, where he published a paper on human choice. Although he has finished a triathlon and summited Mt. Hood, he is neither a triathlete nor a mountaineer yet.
Stormweight’s co-creator, focusing on user experience, marketing, and the day to day details of running a business. Her eclectic background includes a stint in the not for profit world, experience with copy writing and SEO, a degree in creative writing, and a three year trans-Pacific voyage.
Elizabeth enjoys the idea of marine invertebrates, Heian era literature, writing wacky stories, and drinking milk.
After one too many difficult group choices, Jacob and Elizabeth decided it was time to streamline collaborative decision making for humanity. Decision making should be simple, everyone should have their say, and the best ideas should be easy to identify. People who want to work together should have the tools to make collaboration rewarding and intuitive.
Discussion and idea sharing need structure in order to reduce frustration and miscommunication, and ensure that everyone is heard. We believe that the simple act of laying out ideas side by side so that they can be evaluated on merit and ordered accordingly will make the world a more sensible place. Amalgamating these preferential rankings to create consensus will structure discussion in a way that encourages productivity and action.
Encouraging the development and pursuit of the best ideas is a passion. Stormweight is our first step towards spreading this passion.
